First of all my apologies for not being on point with this blog as I planned. There is no excuse. Simply that I have been busy GETTING IT! in the DR
Yess sir!
Anywho I wanted to make a post about my experience getting my eyebrows did.
1. 1. I don’t pluck my own eyebrows. One because I think it hurts to pluck each single freaking hair in my face….I mean really? Taking out hair one by fucking one? Hells no.
2. 2. I don’t even know how to cut paper evenly or straightly with a pair of scissors, what makes me even want to pick up some pluckers and do that to my eyebrows (which are in my face! And for everyone to see and make fun of) uh huh! Nope.
3. Getting them done all at the same time, by someone whose profession is to take out eyebrow hair seems a good idea to me.
Back home I have my spot! Hooper and Gage…its called something nails..owned by a Thailand, maybe Taiwanese family? some lady name Kimberly. Shes good. She doesn’t make me look like a chola with thin ass eyebrows and she is careful about it.
She also offers to wax my upper lip each single time which makes me think I have mad hairs on my upper lip, but then I hear all of them asking all the women AND MEN who sit in that chair. So its just the hustle to make that money.
Anyways, since I have been in the DR…eyebrows have been growing….that was actually one of my main concerns coming here…getting ma eyebrows done, pedicure and ma manicure….cuz I do none of that for myself, just pay to get them done.
Luckily Jelianny, ma Dominican homegirl told me about a place located on my way to school. A barber shop! She told me, “I prefer getting my eyebrows done by a man, they know what looks best” lol
I asked where it was and went. First time I was there I was so scared that shit was not going to go right. I missed Kimberly.
Joan Sebastian was gentle, delicate and efficient. (that’s not his name though)
He did make one look higher than the other though…which is why I had to let them grow for a while before deciding to go again.
I just came back from the barber shop and I am super excited to show off my brows. They came out on point.
Back home in South L.A. its $5 + tip. Here I pay 50 Dominican pesos. Like $1.50….a deal right?
Hehe
Much love and respect from the Dominican Republic!
